Portal type sludge scraper is widely used for removing sludge and floating contaminants from continuous flow-through tanks and sand catchers. It consists of a drive, overhead crane, lift unit, scraper system and electronic control system. Sediment and floating substance collection gutters can be installed at one end or both ends of the settling tank, as required.

Operating principle of the portal sludge scraper is as follows:

The unit starts running from the settling tank outlet end towards the inlet end, pushing the scraped sludge until the scraper reaches the opposite end.

Then the unit reverses the travel direction and returns to its original position for a new cycle to start. The equipment is driven on steel rails by a drive unit, with the scraper pushing the sediment at the bottom of the settling tank into the sludge collection gutter.
